timeseriesForecasting package model notation

Jenna
Hello. I am not familiar with the notation used when expressing the Linear
regression models that are generated. For example, what would this mean?

passenger_numbers =

     37.5942 * Month=feb,jan,dec,oct,apr,mar,may,sep,jun,aug,jul +
    -37.2379 * Month=oct,apr,mar,may,sep,jun,aug,jul

Is that 37.5942  times  "if the Month is feb OR jan OR dec OR
etc?
Is the comma a symbol for OR. Usually commas are symbols for AND in my
experience.

Thank you as always!

Re: timeseriesForecasting package model notation

This representation is the output of the supervised NominalToBinary filter in WEKA. Yes, the expression represents a logical OR.

If one of those months in the comma-separate list is present, the logical OR will take on the value 1; otherwise, it will take on the value 0. For example, if Month takes on the value feb, then 37.5942 will be added to the output of the linear regression model.

Cheers,
Eibe
