max memory allocation

Marc Stein
Is their a maximum memory allocation that can be used via JVMOptions?

I've noticed that -Xss2000M works, but that -Xss4000M fails to launch Weka.

Thanks,

Marc

I think you're confusing the memory allocation for the stack (-Xss)
with the one for the heap (-Xmx).

The call stack shouldn't usually be modified, merely the upper limit
of the heap.

Re: max memory allocation

Thanks Peter!

If we are launching through the info.plist file, how can we alter the heap size in 3.9.1?

Best,

Marc

Sorry, not a Mac user. Linux is much easier! :-)

I used to disagree. Now, not so much.

Best,

Just add another entry under the JVMOptions tag in the Info.plist file – e.g. if you wanted to only use 1Gb for heap:

<key>JVMOptions</key>
<array>
<string>-Xss20M</string>
<string>-Xmx1024M</string>
</array>
<key>JVMArguments</key>

Cheers,
Mark.
